Snow White

Snow White gathers the snow-scene photographs Kiarostami made between 1978 and 2004, many of them along Iran's Caspian coast during walks in search of film locations. Bare trees stand silhouetted against blank white hillsides — stark, spontaneous images in which the resilient tree, a figure of life and growth, holds its own against the harshness of the snow. As Kiarostami put it: "On a snowy morning I run out, hatless and coatless, happy as a child."
